Q: Do any of the ingredients come from carrageenan?
submitted by Tatermama - 3 months ago
A: Great question! Carrageenan is derived from red seaweed and is usually used in skincare as a thickening agent. The Good Molecules Pimple Patches actually include Cellulose Gum as the thickening agent, which is typically derived from plant sources like wood pulp and cotton. The Pimple Patches only contain the following ingredients... Hydrogenated Styrene/Methylstyrene/Indene Copolymer 48.0% Cellulose Gum 39.7% Polyisobutene 12.2% Pectin 0.10%

These patches are a little sticker than others I've tired. This might be a plus if you find other brands peeling up at the edges but my skin is on the sensitive side so these can be painful to remove and sometimes leave red marks. If you have trouble with other adhesives like on bandaids I would use with caution.
Not for me

I've tried many different patches, and these are by far the BEST! They actually do what they're supposed to. Big or small, they suck the life out of my pimples. I've honestly been surprised a few times on how much it gets out and how fast they help them go away. They also blend in to almost invisible, so I can wear out in public and not feel like a teenager with a sticker on my face. Try them!!!
10/10 for sensitive/acne prone folks

Okay first…if they’re not sticking, your face either isn’t clean or isn’t dry. The only thing I ever put on my freshly washed skin before these is a hypochlorous acid spray or another acidic toner withOUT any kind of hyaluronic or moisturizing ingredient, and that needs to dry down. On nights I’m wearing dots, I avoid using oils but usually can follow AFTER dots are applied with normal moisturizer and it just goes over the dots. These do in fact pull crud out of your skin very quickly effectively. I am buying for myself for hormonal acne, my teenage son with typical teen acne, and these also work well for bug bites (look it up…there are similar products marketed specifically for bites and they’re exactly the same) for our whole household. Hydrocolloid bandages are typically marketed for blisters but they actually have a wide range of uses. These specifically are the best value I’ve found. Only cheaper have been from bargain stores, but the quality isn’t as good. These are tapered at the edges so they disappear better than any others out there. The entire surface will still pull fluid if there is any to pull though. These also leave minimal to no residue when removing. Some leave behind adhesive that takes some effort to get off. These also adhere really well. The only place I’ve had them peel up on their own is right beside my lip (highly mobile location and moisture seeps under). And…the packaging on these is very user friendly. I dispose of the box and just keep the stack of sheets in an “actives & treatments” compartment of my bathroom drawer. The backing being perforated in columns means I can lift a dot without curling one of the edges. This also ensures good adhesion and invisibility once applied. I get a clean dot every time this way and just slide the rest of the sheet back into the opened sleeve. These are not as thick as for instance Bandaids (which I have also cut up and used for acne) so they will “fill up” quicker than something that’s thicker, but at that point you want to change the dot so a new one can keep pulling. The only blemishes that these won’t be effective for are deeper cystic acne. It’s too deep to do much…however, those spots can be massaged with a gua sha tool and tend to work up to the surface where then the yuck can be expressed and/or accessible with one of these dots.

By far the best at blending into the skin and can barely be seen! Highly recommended for covering a blemish.

I usually buy the Rael brand of patches but got these out of convenience. They didn’t seem to pull as much gunk as others and I had a slight reaction to the adhesive. They left a small red circle on my skin all day. Others I’ve tried didn’t do the same, so I won’t be buying these again.

Worked great for the price. These worked great. Helped clear up my pimples in a couple days. Pimples cleared up surface level and reduced size and redness. However, I don’t feel like it removed it completely. These were extremely painful to peel off though if left on too long. This only the second brand I’ve tried so far for pimple patches. These stick well to dry skin after cleansing.

They move all around and don’t really stick. Also the edges aren’t the same as the middle part so I feel like they’re just sticky but wouldn’t pull anything out? Which makes the patch very small bc you have to be precise and put it on in the middle. However it slides around and I don’t think they work very well. It doesn’t work on most breakouts, it only kinda works on pimples that are ready to pop. Great value tho, it’s a shame bc I love this brand and they’re very affordable for so many patches

They are cheap for a reason! They hardly pull out any gunk even if they turn white after wearing them for hours. The only good thing about them is that they do blend in very well making them almost invisible. If your goal is to hide a pimple while leaving the house, they’ll work. Otherwise, spending more is worth it. These are definitely the worst pimple patches that I have ever tried.

Was excited to try based on other reviews but not my favorite - Don’t seem to be as effective as others I have tried and are really tricky to remove the patch from the sheet causing them to become warped when trying to stick on your face.
