Safety 1st Pressure-Check Gate with SecureTech - White

Upon opening the box of my first gate, I realized that the spring action mechanism did not even work, even even if it did the latch would not close the gate correctly at all rendering it useless. At first, I thought this was just a simple product design and error with my first gate, but I bought two of them for me to realize and validate that both products were absolute trash. Not only that, but let’s go ahead and say that I could even close the gate with the spring mechanism, the pieces to extend the gate did not even work and fit into the product correctly – making me struggle and try hammering it (6’1 228) and still not even be able to fix it. There is a reason why it is on sale and all the reviews are complete and utter lies and or have bias because they were given free gates. I want a refund.

Wanted a gate to keep my dogs out of my bedroom. I purchased this strictly for the easy to open and close handle. Easy to install and works perfectly!

This gate looks like a good design and solidly made but I realized midway through installation that what we were sent appears to be defective. The latch of the gate should come already installed and spring loaded - the latch piece in what we were sent it a completely separate piece and the corresponding spring is loose inside the gate mechanism. Because the mechanism is riveted closed, there is no possible way to fix this. Looking forward to hearing from Safety 1st on what the right next steps are to get a working version installed.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm a first time mom of an 18 month old and I have tried out many baby gates before when we first started baby proofing the house and this one from Safety 1st is one of my favorites! It has a unique color indicator feature so that you can see from far away whether the gate is actually locked or not. My husband and I were not blessed with 20/20 vision but now it's very easy to see whether the gate is actually locked with the color indicators. The other important bits to know, it's super easy to install and the material feels solid, not flimsy and it comes with extension pieces to fit doorways between ~29-38" wide. The latch is different compared to other baby gates and you may need some time to get used to it but I'm confident my toddler can't get out which is the most important thing. The only thing I'd change is I wish this gate was made in a taller size, so that the latch is at a more comfortable height for me to open/close while holding my toddler but this is a personal preference and an issue I have with most baby gates. I've tried multiple different gates and have ended up returning each one for different reasons (difficult installation, not study enough, etc.). Truthfully, I had low expectations when I received this gate from Stellar Product Testing Panel to try since I've had multiple poor experiences with other gates, but it has been a total game changer for our home. Installation was incredibly easy to install and requires no drilling. I also love the quick-lift handle, which allows you to open the door with one hand. This gate is perfect for keeping my little one safe, and as a parent, I couldn't ask for anything more.

I was so excited as we have a 5 month old who will be crawling soon as well as a 9 month old nephew who is over quite a bit! It was easy and quick to put up!! Smooth sailing there and we left it up for a bit and I realized it worked fantastic for our rambunctious dogs as well. They even jumped up and put their paws on the top and it maintained integrity and didn’t do damage to the walls or fall down. I am impressed.

It is a simple, sleek design and would fit right in no matter the decor of your home. My son is getting much more mobile and it gives a lot of peace of mind to be able to close off a portion of the house that isn't safe for him. The packaging is well designed and the instructions are thorough for a pretty easy install. Once it is in it feels sturdy and since it took me a few times to really get the hang of it, I don't imagine my son will be able to unlock it for many years to come. This gate extends from 29"-38" making it flexible and fit for a variety of spaces.

The Safety Gate was super easy to unpackage and even easier to install, the instructions were very clear and easy to understand, from box to install was 5 minutes. I love that the gate is so secure without any drilling and adaptable for door frames up to 38”. The gate opens from either direction which is nice. It also has a really cool feature that I haven’t seen on any other safety gates, the red-to-green indicators on the top let you know if the gate is latched correctly and properly pressurized for ultimate safety! The white color is sleek and looks great in my home. The gate is great at keeping my 2 year old contained and easy for my husband and myself to quickly open and get through. I would recommend this gate to anyone needing a secure gate with quick install!

The gate was very easy to install and I was very happy with how sturdy it felt compared to my other gates in my home. I like the vertical bars because our toddler has recently learned to climb and I know he will not be able to climb this gate. We used this to block our toddler from going down our stairs. My only complaint is that one of the wall protectors is damaged, I’m hoping I can get this replaced because I want to keep using it but I do not want to risk damaging my walls.

The installation was relatively simple compared to other baby gates I've used in the past, with easy to follow instructions. I love that there are colored indicators to confirm whether the gate is installed correctly. The design and white color of the gate is simple and clean-looking. I installed this gate at my front door because my family likes to keep the door open when the weather is nice. This is a pressure mounted gate, wonderful for preventing wall damage. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend this gate for stairways. My 17 month old toddler has almost figured out how to open my other baby gate but isn't able to figure out the technology on this one. It's extremely safe! Overall, I'd recommend this gate to parents looking for an easy to install, simple, and safe baby gate.

This gate has been great for containing our 15 month old toddler, but also our medium sized dog, on our main level. So far, I have been impressed with the look and functionality of this gate. The sleek white design fits well with the aesthetics of the rest of our home, proving to be both functional yet blending in with our home decor. The handle is easy to use and even our guests have been able to maneuver and walk through the gate with ease. I also enjoy that the gate opens in both directions! The installation was quick and the best part is that it can be securely installed without having to drill holes in our walls. The included instructions were step by step and easy to follow. The gate is adjustable to fit between multiple size doorways and we will definitely be able to utilize it in different areas of the house, as needed. The green and red indicators let us know whether the gate is properly latched, and this has helped ease our minds. In addition, I really enjoy the slide and lift handle as it adds an extra level of safety and security. This feature was most important to me because our toddler can be very curious! Overall, I would recommend this gate to friends and family and look forward to utilizing it in our home for years to come!

The last baby gate we purchased has remained uninstalled, still sitting in a box, because the instructions and tools were overwhelming. This product, on the other hand, had simple, easy-to-follow instructions and well-organized packaging. All necessary parts and tools were included. Assembling the pieces took only a few minutes; installing the gate and adjusting the pressure took a bit longer, but I was able to manage by myself. A few additional observations / things to consider: (1) Opening the gate honestly took me a minute to figure out, but isn’t a problem now (2) This is a pressure-mounted gate (not a hardware-mounted / drilled gate), so I would not recommend using this as a safety gate at the top of a staircase. As a mom of an active 18-month old, I use this to block off a hallway on our first floor. (3) I originally intended to use the gate in a wider space and installed the extenders; when I changed my mind on the location, it was a bit difficult to remove the caps from the extenders to place them directly into the gate. Probably not going to be an issue for most, but just an FYI if you plan to move the gate to different spaces, or a reminder to measure your space before determining whether the extenders are needed (which is a step clearly noted in the instructions). Overall would recommend for anyone looking for a simple, easy to install, pressure-mounted safety gate. It gets the job done.

I really like this gate, it's perfect for keeping my dogs behind the gate but also for keeping my toddler from going down the hall. There's no way she can open this gate with the locking mechanism on this one. You have to really slide, lift and pull up on the handle to unlock it, which takes a little bit of force. In addition you also have to slide the stoppers on the bottom for the gate to open. I have another baby gate, purchased through another retailer and that one my little one can open with no problem. I also really appreciate the fact this gate requires no drilling. This gate extends from 29"-38" if they make one that extends up to 45" I would replace the other one I have too.

The gate’s user friendly and very easy to instead because it’s just as easy as using pressure. It relieves my stress levels as my daughter can still see me in the kitchen but gives me time to finish making her food and or washing the dishes! We received this gate from the Stellar Product Testing Panel and it's been a great addition to help keep our kiddo safe! I had looked at other baby gates, but I was much more impressed by how solid and sturdy this Safety 1st gate is. We want to avoid drilling into our walls, while also feeling like we have a well-built and safe gate, and this one really fits those needs well. The latching mechanism does take a little bit of practice, and was a little bit more challenging for grandparents who have less hand dexterity, however, that also means that the latching mechanism is very secure. The instructions for set-up were clear and the install is pretty straight-forward. I was also concerned that a baby gate would be a bit of an eye sore, but the aesthetics are actually pretty decent (the slats are a flat, wide shape vs. plain round spindles). Overall, it's a very well-built item that helps us keep our kiddo safe!

It seems sturdy and durable. I like how basic it is so that it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb. Regarding the install, I really wish this had fewer parts. I am not stranger to DIY builds and installs, but this seemed to have way too many parts/pieces for something that essentially is pressured to the wall. This will be used to help my active 20 month old stay clear from a downstairs bathroom, so, overall, it serves it's purpose.

We have 2 sets of stairs in our house, which makes things very difficult with our baby who is just starting to climb up everything. This gate makes it very easy to seal off the bottom of one set of stairs and with the one handed latch, it doesn’t inconvenience the adults as we try to walk through it. It was easy to install and worked well right away. The white color looks great with our walls and white bannister. I cannot say enough about how great it is to be able to easily open and close this gate! It’s functional and looks nice with the stairs. Would highly recommend.
