Q: Are you certified organic?

submitted by kermit - 2 months ago
  • A: Yes! Happy Egg Organic Eggs are certified USDA Organic and are laid by Happy Hens who forage and play on 8+ acres of outdoor pastures every day.

Q: How long do these eggs stay fresh & edible refridgerated?

submitted by Texas Gma - 9 months ago
  • A: Hi! The expiration date should be on the right-hand side of the carton. If you are still not able to find it, we should mention eggs can be refrigerated for three to five weeks from the day they are first placed in the refrigerator, per the USDA. Store your Happy Eggs in your fridge at 40°F or lower to keep them fresh. If you still feel worried that the eggs may not be fresh, try the egg float test! Put your Happy Egg in a bowl of cold water. If the egg sinks to the bottom, it is still fresh!

Q: How many square feet per hen?

submitted by Megan - 1 year ago

Q: Is there any SOY in the feed or graze for the hens?

submitted by Angey - 1 year ago
  • A: We feed our hens a specially formulated diet of whole grains -- including corn and soy, mixed with vitamins and minerals, to provide the best nutrition for healthy hens and great eggs. Because the hens have the ability to go outdoors, their daily feed is supplemented by a range-foraged diet, including grass and bugs. The hen’s feed is free of added meat, bone meal or hormones. In addition, Happy Egg hens producing organic eggs are fed a 100% organic, non-GMO diet.

Q: Are these 100% pasture chickens?

submitted by RhondaS - 1 year ago
  • A: Hi Rhonda, our hens are raised on small family farms and are given access to roam freely on over 8 acres of range (this equates to about 21.8 sq/ft per bird)!

Q: Is your brand pasteurized?

submitted by Dwn - 1 year ago
  • A: Hey! No, our eggs aren’t pasteurized but we do have a process where the eggs are rapidly heated (but not up to 100 degrees Celsius as pasteurization requires) and are held at a minimum required temperature for a specified time to destroy bacteria.

Q: Where are they from...where is the chicken farm...

submitted by sjmadrone - 3 years ago
  • A: Thanks for your question! Our Happy Egg farms are located primarily in the Ozark woodlands of Arkansas and Missouri. This region has gently rolling wooded hills for the hens, and a mild climate. This allows the hens to go outside year-round, not just in the summer months.

I bought my first dozen a few weeks back and purchased another dozen today. The yolks are almost orange and remind me of the eggs our chickens used to lay growing up. Yolks don't break when you fry them. They make great egg salad. Have also used them in two pumpkin pies. Target's price is lower than the specialty grocery I go to that also sells them

These eggs used to be my favorite and unmatchable but recently they are just like normal eggs. I’ve also had several rotten eggs when I’ve gone a lifetime with ever having one. The cartons have even changed to a cheaper material and no matter what an egg gets broken on the trip home from the grocery store. I hope they go back to the rich yolks one day.

    Not happy with Happy Eggs

I’ll never buy this brand again. Yesterday, 9/10/25, I had the brown sugar and butter mixed up to make a large pan of brownies, cracked the first egg (unfortunately into the butter mixture) and the inside of the eggshell had dark spots, one possibly blood, but was orange - a Google search said the spots were mold! I checked a couple of other eggs and found a lesser amount of mold spots, but I didn’t feel it was safe to use any from the carton. Best by date is 9/16/25. In all the years I’ve been baking I’ve never seen anything so disgusting. I’ll now start cracking each egg into a separate bowl prior to adding to whatever I’m making, just in case.

    Yolks

Previously, I loved these eggs because their yolks were a rich orange-amber color. However, my latest purchase revealed yolks that are now a pale yellow, very similar to ordinary eggs — despite me paying the same higher price.
1 reply from Happy Egg team - 29 days ago
Hi, thank you for taking the time to leave a review. We always expect some variability in yolk color because, just like humans, no two hens are exactly alike. Several natural factors, such as seasonal changes, diet adjustments, or individual hen differences, can affect yolk color. Rest assured, our farming standards haven’t changed! The Happy Hens still enjoy a premium, nutrient-rich diet and daily access to outdoor pastures, where they play, peck, and forage. That said, we do understand that it can be disappointing to crack open a Happy Egg and discover a lighter yolk, and we want to make this right! Please reach out to us at contact@happyegg.com.

I have been purchasing these eggs and only these eggs for about five years. Recently however, the cartons are only full of blue eggs and the yolks not as dark amber as the brown eggs. The brown are my favorite. Is there a concern with the hens laying the brown eggs, and or what is the reason for this? Please bring back the brown eggs. P.S. I literally went looked through every carton at Sprouts and all of the eggs were blue…
1 reply from Happy Egg team - 27 days ago
Great question! Our Heritage eggs are unique in many ways, from the Heritage Breeds that lay them to the rich amber yolks inside. While there is no set brown-to-blue ratio in our Heritage cartons, you will most often find them with a fairly even mix. However, this all depends on the packing schedule, the farm, and ultimately, the hens who are laying the eggs. It seems that the farm supplying your eggs has more blue hens than brown hens at the moment. Don't worry, the hens receive the same standard of care. The only difference is the shell color!

I was so very happy to discover your Happy Eggs! I have been searching for them for a long time so cudos I am eggstatic!! Just one concern is the packaging - the carton opens very easily and one of my eggs slid out and landed on the floor. Not a big deal but such beautiful eggs deserve a more secure design I hope you will give it some thought. Thank you though for these beautiful eggs!!!

I LOVED these eggs soooo much. Recently I've noticed that they were pale & white in color- not their usual vibrant orange. They definitely did not taste the same, either. Much more bland than normal. I thought it was just the one box I had but it's been multiple boxes that I've bought the last few weeks. :(
