A: I use mine with a dehumidifier to keep the apartment comfortable. Cheaper to run than air conditioning. AC only for really hot days.

A: The 533XT will be a lower volume on its lowest setting. On high, it will be louder as it moves more air. The decibel level on high is at 57, or about the sound level of a household refrigerator running. A: The Vornado 533XT Fan is designed for indoor use. It is a great indoor fan that will circulate the existing air, whatever temperature it is. Recommend one of our Heavy-Duty Fans with IP54 Rated Motor to be used in that type of atmosphere.

Summer has been brutal, so I finally caved and bought one of these for my bedroom. It was the best sleep I've had in weeks. This little guy is powerful; a lot more than I was expecting. It has three settings, and the middle setting is usually pretty sufficient to keep things cool. You can also swivel the head up and down to direct the airflow however you want. In terms of volume, it's no worse than your usual fan white noise. I like it, since the white noise helps me sleep. Overall, I love this thing so far. Highly recommend, especially for the price!

Bought to replace other Vornado that stopped working, since we had it for a long time. This one was rattling out of the box, like some screw inside isn’t tight, even at the low speed. Not worth my time to fix it, just going to return it and buy a box fan.

I love this brand and I use it specifically for it to be loud to drain out other noises so I can sleep. This is the brand with the loud fans and it needs to stay that way because some of us need that. The air is so cool and strong. Keeps me cool at night. I love it! If you are looking for a quiet fan, this isn’t the best option. I tried it for a week and was only able to tolerate the lowest setting. Someone else mentioned that it sounded like a helicopter and I 100% agree. Ended up returning.

This fan is better than expected. For context, our upstairs office is in a loft that gets unbearably hot in the summer months. With the fan strategically placed in front of the a/c floor vent upstairs, the house is a solid 20 degrees cooler than the outside temperature and it’s relieved the stress on the central air to cool the house. Highly recommend purchasing. From reading the other reviews, I’ve seen that some units are especially noisy. While the highest setting is loud, it’s not an especially annoying sound and fades into the background.

This fan is quiet on low. It also doesn't circulate much air on low. Any speed above low sounds like a helicopter taking off. It's unbelievably loud and has a vibration to it. Not a fan for sleeping. It is honestly louder than the one they have for under $20 which I had to return because it started to vibrate loudly after 2 days of use. Overpriced, loud, ineffective. I either got a dud or reviews are useless now.
